Here's an anecdote for all those who are pursuaded to blame the hedge funds for manipulating the markets: Anthony "The Cocoa Man" Ward's Huge Bet Is Sucking Major Wind Right Now

I am eager to argue the position that hedge funds do not manipulate markets and have become a popular whipping post for all those who really don't understand the markets and want to blame something ... that really make the hair on the backs of peoples necks stand up.

Bloomberg highlights some industry concerns about too much rain in the Ivory Coast and the concern over Black Pod disease. In addition today, I see more about the news of a speculative cash trader taking delivery of a record amount of cocoa beans.
